Partner questions

Partner questions.
Ask us anything.

What MSPs ask before they partner with us, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, ask it on a call and we'll add it.

01

Customers and the channel

Do you sell direct?

Not paid plans, with one exception we state openly. We sell Kantrix Sovereign directly to defense and intelligence, central federal government, energy and water, and telecommunications. Everything else goes through partners, including the few businesses in our design partner program: when it ends, each moves to its own MSP if that MSP is a partner, or to the highest-tier partner in its region. Anyone can run two nodes free.

Which customers can't I sell Kantrix to?

Organizations in defense and intelligence, central federal government, energy and water, and telecommunications, unless the organization's own legal counsel permits it in writing. If they do, send us a copy before you register the deal. Otherwise Kantrix serves them directly with Kantrix Sovereign. Not sure about a customer? Ask us before you quote.

What happens when my customer contacts you?

We send them back to you. If they name you as their provider, you hear from us first. We never sign a business up around its provider.

What if a business you're talking to already has an MSP?

We bring that MSP in before anything else happens. If they'd rather not take part, we introduce the business to the highest-tier partner in its region.

Can two partners claim the same customer?

Only one deal registration is approved for a new opportunity: the first. If the customer chooses a different provider, the customer's choice stands.

Will my customers see the Kantrix name?

The portal carries your logo and your domain.

02

Pricing and margin

What does Kantrix cost?

The MSRP is $150 USD per node, per month. One price covers the whole platform, on any hardware or in any cloud.

What do I pay as a partner?

A partner price well below MSRP, which drops as your tier rises and again with volume. You decide what your customers pay. We share the price sheet once we've both signed a mutual NDA.

Why isn't partner pricing on the website?

Because your customers can read our website too. Your cost and your margin stay between us.

Are there capacity tiers, add-ons or minimums?

No. You own the hardware, so use all of it. No minimum commitment, and no fee to join. Kantrix Sovereign is sold by Kantrix directly to defense and intelligence, central federal government, energy and water, and telecommunications, and isn't part of partner pricing.

Does a cloud node cost more than a server?

No. A node is a node, wherever it runs.

Is anything free?

Two nodes, forever, so you can prove it before you sell it. Kantrix Migrate is free too.

03

Tiers and support

How do the tiers work?

Everyone starts at Registered. Authorized needs 25 active nodes and one trained technician. Premier needs 45 nodes, two technicians and two sales people trained. Elite needs 75 nodes, three technicians and three sales people. See the full program.

What support do I get?

Business hours support for Registered partners. 24/7 support for Authorized, Premier and Elite partners, with a named contact from Premier up.

Who supports my customers?

You do, and we support you.

How long is a registered deal protected?

7 days at Registered, 14 at Authorized, 30 at Premier and 45 at Elite.

Do you help with sales?

Yes. Ask, and we'll help you demo Kantrix to a customer. Premier and Elite partners also get marketing funds: 3% and 7%.

What if I fall below my tier?

Nothing changes until the next tier review. We tell you first, and you never drop more than one tier at a time.

04

Hardware and cloud

What hardware do I need?

Whatever you trust, from whichever vendor you partner with. Build your status there and get better pricing on it.

Do you limit how much of the hardware I use?

No. You own it, so use every core, every gigabyte and every terabyte. We don't meter it and we don't cap it.

Is there a limit on nodes, or nodes per cluster?

No. Enrol as many nodes as you like, and build clusters as large as you need.

Can I run Kantrix in the cloud?

Yes. Start a VM in any cloud, paste the Kantrix setup into the provider's console, and it joins the same fleet as your servers. You can also see your customers' AWS accounts in the portal.

Where does my customers' data live?

On the nodes you choose, in the sites and cloud accounts you choose.

05

Migrating off VMware

What does Migrate cost?

Nothing. The tool is free and comes with live support from our engineers. The project is yours to quote.

What can it move?

Whatever your customers run on VMware, bring it to us, and we'll plan the move with you.

What if a cutover goes wrong?

Switch the original VM back on. That's why it stays switched off, not deleted, until the customer signs off.

Who runs the migration?

You do, with Migrate and our engineers on call. Design partners run their first one with a Kantrix founder.

06

Joining and leaving

How do I apply?

The application takes about five minutes and opens with one eligibility statement.

Who can't join?

If you can't accept the eligibility statement at the start of the application, the program isn't open to you, and we keep nothing but your answer.

What do I sign?

A mutual NDA first, so we can show you everything. Then the partner agreement. Everyone on your team who uses Kantrix accepts the NDA when they join.

What's a design partner?

One of up to 24 MSPs who run Kantrix in production with us and help decide what we build. Design partners start at Authorized, with 24/7 support, and are free for 24 months. 12 places are left. See the design partner program.

Can I leave?

Yes. Either side can end the design partner program on 30 days' notice, and you get 30 days after that to export your data. Your workloads stay on your hardware.
